Horse back riding is a great activity loved by many which can even turn into a career. Pretty much anyone can learn to ride and you don't need to be a master equestrian to learn how to do it. In this guide we will show you some simple tips for beginners learning to ride horse back and how to go about finding a local stable near you.

Finding a local horse stable & equestrian training near you

In order to succeed at riding horses you will need to find a local horse riding stable which offers horse riding training (unless you live on a stable in which case your sorted!). We recommend using The Pet Guides local stable and equestrian training finder which searches hundreds of horse stables and training near you easily. Once you have found your local horse stables you are good to get started.

Your first riding lesson

On your first horse riding lesson your instructor will go through all the basics with you and introduce you to your horse you will be riding, your horse will usually be calm and experienced until you have had more lessons and are confident to try a different horse.

Your riding instructor will also go through steps and help you prepare your horse for riding such as grooming and tacking your horse.

After you have had several lessons you can then learn about the different types of horse riding (which will be discussed in a different post) such as show jumping, dressage, trail riding and more.

So now that you know some basics about horse riding start finding your local horse riding or equestrain training centre at www.thepetguide.co.uk and start your horse riding today.
With so many local boarding catteries how do you know which one is best for your kitten or cat? It can be daunting finding the best cattery near you, but with The Pet Guides local boarding cattery search that daunting task can be a thing of the past.

Advice on finding the best boarding cattery

It is recommended that you search way in advance before you actually need to use your selected cattery as it can take some time to find it, and once you have found your perfect local cattery near you don't forget to book you cat in advance because catteries can get booked quickly (especially during school/holiday times!).

To search for your cattery start by selecting what areas you would be happy to take your kitten or cat to and write them down. Next search for local boarding catteries in your area by using The Pet Guide's fast and easy cattery finder at www.thepetguide.co.uk (which shows over 1000 listed catteries).

With selecting your favourite local boarding catteries it is recommended to do your research, read reviews and ask others on their experience with your selected cattery. Our most important tip is to visit the local boarding cattery in advance because a well run boarding cattery should always be happy to show you around.

Another tip we also recommend is to see how your cat reacts around the sound of dogs, because you will find that some catteries can be combined with kennels and although they may be in completely different sections, your cat could hear sounds of dogs barking and the last thing you would want is your cat being more distressed!

So I've selected which local boarding cattery to use, what next?

Congratulations on finding your reliable local boarding cattery! so is their anything else I need to do? well heres a few handy tips to remember:

Accommodation for cats

Yes that's rite, just like us humans when we go away on holiday you will always find that their are different types of accommodations available - and it's pretty much the same for catteries so make sure you ask what types of accommodation are available. It is also important to ask for opening times because you don't want to be picking up you cat when it's closed!

Feeding your cat

Make sure you ask all about the cats feeding, and tell them if your cat has any special dietary requirements - if they are a loyal cattery they will always be happy to help and follow your cats dietary conditions.

Medical issues or illness

Dont forget to inform your local boarding cattery of any medical conditions your cat has or any medications that may need to be administered (most catteries are happy to do this, but some may include a small fee for doing this so always ask).

Make sure your cattery asks to see your up to date vaccination card (every licensed cattery should insist this), if not make sure to question this because the last thing you want is your cat exposed to diseases from other cats staying at the cattery.

And finally make sure you are happy with your chosen cattery! If something does not feel rite or you don't feel comfortable leaving your cat their for any reason - leave, it's far better to spend a bit more time finding the perfect place for your cat than worrying.

Find local horse riding near you

We are excited to start our search for all the best horse riding places near you at The Pet Guide and so far its going really well.

We currently have 22 British Horse Society (BHS) approved Horse riding and equestrian training areas listed with a lot more to follow! We know this may not sound like a lot, but the team at The Pet Guide has been doing a lot of research on this to bring you the most accurate data available.

Why start horse riding and equestrian training?

We decided to start finding horse riding and equestrian training places because of one main reason... Their is not much information out their! and without information it can be really hard to find (we sure found it hard) somewhere local and reliable.

Our aim at The Pet Guide for the rest of the month is to focus on finding local horse riding places, equestrian training areas and more with a target to find at least 100 places in the UK by the end of the month.

Local Catteries near you updates

Moving on from Horses in our previous posts we discussed about how well we are doing with adding local catteries near you, well we have nearly approached that 1000 mark (969 to be precise) and still going strong with about 15 more counties to add places.

We are sure we will hit that 1000 boarding catteries mark by the end of the week, and we hope to have catteries added in each county in the UK by the end of June (fingers crossed!).

This weeks The Pet Guide Update

The team at The Pet Guide have gone social crazy with setting up our very own twitter (@thepetguide), Facebook (Facebook.com/thepetguide) and google plus, so don't forget to follow us for the very latest pet information!

In other news we are pleased to announce we have just reach the 4000 Pet business listing mark set! this is great news for the team at The Pet Guide with more and more people submitting their pet business/service to our site daily.
